Lawrence Ward is a Nashville-based songwriter and composer.  He enjoys writing for a wide variety of musical genres and occasions – everything from sacred music to jazz.

Lawrence studied jazz theory and performance at Rutgers University and church music at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  This unique blend has given him the ability to write songs that others can and love to sing, whether that be songs in the lineage of the great american classic standards, or folk/country songs.

You’ll find both songs and compositions (music only) here, along with simple demos or charts that will allow you to make the songs your own.  Lawrence is most at home behind the pen, not the microphone.

Holy Innocents

Lyrics Whether upon a king’s command Or at a mercenary’s hand They have been taken far too soon, Silenced within a mother’s womb. Oh, our hearts are broken For the cries unspoken.

To Have and to Hold

Lyrics Verse 1: The day I first met you the world came alive You captured my heart, and my soul you revived. Your beauty’s unequaled both outside and in So come take my hand, let our new life begin.
